UK to Kusadasi?

priyyasidhuxx
Hi, I recently visited Turkey for the first time and I loved it. I stayed in Kusadasi and I have wanted to go back ever since. I would love to move there but would need to secure a job first. I have experience of working admin in a hospital for 5 years, supermarkets and pharmacies. Please could someone give me some advice if you have ever moved from the UK to Turkey.

Priya 😊

First of all do you speak Turkish apart from English, does not sound like a very senior job (apologies) what do you expect to earn, why do you want to leave the UK? Just loving Kudasi but needing a job does not sound good. Loads of bureaucracy and in general low salary , best to retire here, but working?
To live in Turkey is great if you have enough funds but depending on a job (which is very difficult to get ...)

But if you speak both Turkish and English and perhaps more you might have a chance. (even then difficult)

If you speak Turkish, and English you will be able to find a job. But your salary is going to be way more lower then the UK, and most likely you will find it difficult to even live on in Turkey since you will be paid in TL not USD, or Euros, or GBP.

If you speak no Turkish then there isn't going to be many jobs available. You could try to get a job with a UK company that has a branch in Turkey, and get transferred over there.

2. You can try to get some certifications, and become an English teacher.

3. You can try to find an online job in the UK or a western country(USA, Canada, Europe), and then move to Turkey and do that job online since Turkey has good internet speeds.

4. You can try to start your own business in Turkey.

5. Or you can retire in Turkey.

Those are about your only options of work, or being able to make money in Turkey.

If you have a degree in the medical field that you could probably find work but without a degree in the medical field then it will be very hard to find it.

Also you fell in love with Turkey only because you where here for 1 or 2 weeks. But this is an extremely xenophobic country where many turks will try to make your life extremely hard here. Either because most of them don't know the laws, and rules when dealing with foreigners, or they simply don't want to deal with you because they hate non-turks.

For example you will say to yourself "Apartments are so cheap here" But you will find out that 90% of the people will refuse to rent apartments to you because you are a non-turk. I am an American and had this issue.

You will find out that if they are willing to rent to you they will try to charge you 2x to 5x the price of rent which you may find out may be the same price as rent in the UK, or close to it depending on what city yur living in.

It will be rare to find an apartment in Turkey with a good price unless if you do alot of searching around.

I have turks that refuse to put data on my phone because im a non-turk.

I have turks that refuse to set up internet service at my home because they said "im not a citizen of turkey" even though I called corporate multiple times, and they said there is no rules against that all I need is an ikhmet.

Before you make any move to Turkey I would suggest getting a friend in Turkey who can help you with everything, and who won't scam you.
