Travelling from Istambul to Rhodes

Hi!

I am spending my june vacations in Istambul, but since a friend is working in Rhodes, I wish to interrupt some days, and go down there. I checked the flights, and it is only possible, if one goes first to Athenes...

How far is Istambul from Rhodes per car, I mean to the coast? Because I would prefer to do it, than to flight. Is there a ferry, if I take the car with?

I hope my questions are not so naive, because sometimes the distances on the maps seems not to be soo extreme...

hi. you must go bodroum. this with car is a distance 10 hours. from there you can take the ship. and in 40 minutes you will be there. have a good time. rhodes is perfect!

Just a question, it is the highway safe enough or like in MExico, where we have to pay attention in the nights...
