The UAE has arrested more than 32,000 people for visa violations

SimCityAT

The UAE has arrested more than 32,000 people for visa violations in the first half of 2025, with around 70% deported so far.

The crackdown follows the end of a four-month amnesty campaign that allowed undocumented residents to leave the country or regularise their status without penalties.

Officials said more than 236,000 people in Dubai alone benefited from the scheme. Authorities have warned that inspections will continue and legal action will be taken against visa offenders and those who assist them.

Fines for overstaying remain at Dh50 per day and residents have six months to leave or change their status after visa cancellation.
