single mother support my son
I am single mother and have been struggling for a long time to bring my son to abu dhabi. I finally have all legalised sole custody document and agreement letter from his father to let me bring my son here. I thought it should be fine now. However the sad answer is still no because I do not have "doctor, teacher, or nurse" in my job title. The fact is I do have PhD degree but not included in the job Title.
I have a good job with income package approaching 40k monthly plus kid education fee and others. I think it is quite enough to support my 3-year son. His father does not let son stay with him for his reason. My son is staying with my mother outside UAE, which is so difficult for my little son. It is so sad. I love this place and love my job so much. It is so sad that I have to leave this country if I can not bring my son here because I can not leave him without parent care.
Does anyone in the similar situation and succeed in bringing kid here recently, please kindly help. Many thanks for any advice and suggestion.
Hi
I am really very sorry to hear that but did u tried through Dubai or may be speak with officer at immigration department usualy they do help and what if you change the title will that be possible.
Since he is 3 years old and have letter from his father and as per law custody goes to mother then they are suppose to accept issuing ur visa.
Anyway if u want to talk more let me know will check with somefriends ...u can message me on pruvate
Hi singlemother and welcome to the Forum
I'm sorry that you have to go through all this on your own
Have you tried getting your Employer's involvement in this issue? They must have there own ways with the immigration procedures and can assist in sorting out such issues. They can even sponsor your son if the immigration procedure doesn't allow you to sponsor him.
Just a thought ... It might help
Wish you all the best and hope soon you will find the way to bring over your son and enjoy your time with him.
Best Regards,
VidoDido, many thanks. I think Dubai might be easier for this case. Because I am working in Abu Dhabi (which might have stricter immigration rules), I do not think I can apply through Dubai immigration (I did not try it). But one thing I do not understand is why someone else can sponsor my son? I am sorry if my question is too stupid. I am to this forum. If you have any friends in Abu Dhabi who are successful in similar cases, and would like to provide any advice, I am greatly appreciated.

Thanks HandsomeMe, I did not try dubai because I am working in abu dhabi and might not be allowed to apply through dubai immigration.
Hi, VidoDido, yes the employer is nice, unfortunately that is the answer from the immigration when my employer spoke to the immigration people and would like to get it signed. My employer would like to try upper office to see what happens. But I am told it might be only 50% hope most. I do not teach, so am not teacher. I do not know how to put Doctor to my job title.

It sounds weird that you have to be a Teacher/Doctor/Nurse to sponsor your son!!!
I hope when your Employer escalate the issue to the higher immigration officials, they understand the situation and accept/approve your application. My finger are crossed
Good Luck
Many thanks, dear all. I think I have to wait for my employer speaking to the higher office. Lets see what they say. Many thanks.
i know this is a long shot, but desperate times call for desperate measures. If you get married and your ex husband gives a no objection to your husband sponsoring your child then you will get it.the fact that you are single is making it difficult
even if you get it now, it will be on "humanitarian grounds" which means you will only get a one year residence permit and will have to pay DHS 5000 deposit (i think) which is refunadable when u cancel the permit.
okay, if this country does not like us, what can we do. I wait for the final result. If still a rejection, I leave for my son.
wow it is sad storyÂ
yes the laws here are so strict. which is not that much bad . i will think and ask my friends  to look for any ways you can find something in the law allow you to bring your son
many thanks, deanolive. I will be very grateful if you would like to suggest anything possibly.

Your ex-husband cannot stop you teaching. What you may mean is that you cant sponsor your child without a no objection from the father. The authorities here have had problems in the past when mothers and step fathers have sponsored children. The fathers have turned up in cases and have said they had no knowledge. So, the UAE has tightened up the laws.
your best bet is to get a letter from your embassy saying that you dont need his permission as you have total authority to sponsor him. This should give you enough leverage.
ANother source of information on the right to sponsor is the Family Court, Judiciary Department of Abu Dhabi. It is located somewhere in Al Bateen, I visited their web site, you can also get advise on the phone for starter, they could tell on the best steps to follow. They could be more open then the immigration officers, as they are trying to improve the legal system here (in general). Sometime the legal prorocess requires one to register the documents we have from abroad (like courts ruling, marriage or divorce; i.e. attestation from °µÍø½ûÇø's Embassy and UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then once accepted, it becomes enforceable in Abu Dhabi.
Immigration officers sometimes give conflicting information. My husband and I have our separate work visas in Abu Dhabi. When we first moved, my company tried to process the visa of my son under mine, but when the department learned that his father was also here, the officer changed his mind at the last step. 3 years later, when I asked again the immigration lady officer about me sponsoring my son, she said it is possible as long as I have professional credentials (like engineer, architect, lawyer in addition to doctor), and that the monthly salary is min 30,000 aed; but at that time we had already completed the process. I now want to do it, I was told by my employer's PRO (processing my new employment papers) that I need to have the lease of the apartment in my name too, in addition to the NOC from husband, and the standard valid passeport etc.
I am wondering if the NOC from the father to allow mother's sponsoring of child, once issued, can it be revoqued if the father changes his mind? Anyone knows? I will try the family court today too.

The NOC from your husband can always be revoked, however, it needs to go through the same legal process that the NOC went through.
If the father is out of the country, this becomes a long and expensive process.
