New members in Abu Dhabi? who are you?
Hi everyone,
I'm not exactly new to Abu Dhabi, been living here 2 years and got married here, originally from Cornwall, England. I'm generally looking to meet some new like minded female friends to socialise and have a laugh with and gain some of my independance back lol. We don't have any children as yet, we want to enjoy a little more freedom first haha. Well i'm a swimming teacher for a respectable company. I enjoy shopping, socialising whether it is coffee or something stronger. Wouldn't mind trying some new activities if anyone has any suggestions.
Would love to hear from like-minded ladies, thanks :-)
Hi everyone:)
I'm Roxanne. I first came out here in 1996. I completed my secondary schooling here and got my college degree in the Philippines. But because most my childhood friends have moved out of the country, I find myself alone a lot in the city. I enjoy walking, running, writing and watching movies. Also, I go to zumba classes once or twice a week. I'm pretty down to earth, talkative and eager to learn and explore new things. I joined the site so I could meet people with similar interests to mine so feel free to drop me a message if you think we'll click.

Better stick to the company whereever u r as in recession, you may not get acepted in new company as u might have been hired but there might be people wholn are in the same company and they may not accept you so easily.
thanks bist.

I know it's a little early, but welcome to the UAE
Not sure if you are here or not yet, but whenever you are give us a shout, and we could grab a drink together. A group of us meet on a regular basis to basically just network and meet new people. We all started off as strangers, but I'd like to think we are now good friends, and you're more than welcome to join us. At the end of the day we all started in the same position as you.
Hopefully speak to you soon.

I'm going to be moving over to Abu Dhabi in March 2012 to start a new job!
Excited to explore the place and meet some new people. I'll probably be living out near Khalifa A/Yas Island area if anyone is around there!
Interests... food (consuming and cooking!), music, technology, travel, badminton...
Looking forward to meeting some of you in real life. I'll be lurking around this forum before and during the move I'm sure!

Hey there all.
I guess I'm the newbie, well for today that is. I arrived a week ago. Been a super week so far. A big shout out to all you South Africans. I'm in Hotel Management, enjoy surfing, skiing, sailing, sport, travelling and movies.
Looking to make new friends from all walks of life.
Well give me a shout if you wanna know more.
I am not so new to Abu dhabi, I've been here since June of last year. I lived in the States for 13 years, and my work transfered me to the Middle East.....My Interest is going out and meeting nice people whim I can relate to. My Main Hobby is Jogging and spending time with nice people
Hi Everyone,
I am from the US and arrived about 5 weeks ago. My husband has been living here since May so it's nice to be with him again. My daughter, her husband and my first grandchild came with me since they are the traveling kind.
I am looking forward to new adventures here and meeting people from all over. I did see something about a movie club or something so I might check into that as well.
Still waiting on our household goods to arrive - hopefully the boat didn't sink!
I am not the young crowd (50) but enjoy people of all ages. I like tennis (not very good though), reading, movies and just being outside.
Looking forward to whereever life sends us.
Go to The Club (formerly known as the British Club, but everyone gets to apply regardless of nationality).
It's full of 40-50 year olds, normally old purple-nosed soaks and their intolerable spouses who "lunch and shop". All very cliquey, but wtf, you may enjoy that scene.
Take my advice and do your own thing...

Hi,
I am a bit premature with my joining the forum....moving out early August but thought I'd hopefully make some friends before the move. I'm 33, from England, anyone want to chat before I get there and hopefully meet up when Im there, please get in touch.
Tamara
Hey Tamara,
Well done for deciding to come out here, I'm quite confident you won't regret it. I know I haven't and I've been out here a year now, and I'm not even thinking of returning. At the end of the day I'm glad I exchanged the rain for the sun, sea and sand :p
Where in England are you from and what will you be doing out here?
Hope to hear from you soon.

New member here but not that new to Abu Dhabi really
Hi All,
I'm Mike. I'm a former/laid off electrical engineer presently working as a very temporary substitute math teacher in CA. I have a CA teaching credential, but NO full time teaching job presently or any time in the near (1-2 yr)future!! I've had it with the CA politics and pink slips!
Through Teach Away, I've applied for engineering, math, etc. teaching positions in Abu Dahbi. The "perks" sound good, but the key is what's the classroom environment in the secondary school REALLY like? I've taught in Jesuit and Christian Brothers high schools--calling Mom when "her angel" acts up in class usually nips the behavior in the bud. The parental phone call does NOT work in public schools, from my experience anyway.
I enjoy meeting people, sharing a beverage, and fascinating stories as we get to know each other. I really like the fact that Abu Dahbi is ~84% ex-pats.Â
My goal is to be in the UAE by August- Sept. 2012.Â
Thanks, in advance, for any advice you can give me about living in Abu Dabhi, Al Amin, etc. the "real scoop" about the Teach Away program, classroom mgt., etc.
I look forward to talking to you soon.Â
  Regards, Mike M
Hi Mohit,
I'm from Basingstoke in Hampshire. I'm coming out to teach there, induction is 12th August so will be around from then,
Thanks for the reassurance Ive made a good decision!
