TD or CIBC. But it also depends on which university you go to. You may want to check with the finance department if they have any setup with local financial institution.

CIBC does have a 'new immigrants' program which is helpful if you want to acquire a credit score, if not I would advise to stay away from them. If I could start over again I would go with either President's Choice Financial or Tangerine. Those are the only banks that do not charge you a fee for plane-Jane accounts! And especially if you don't have a lot of money you don't want to spend $80/year just for having an account.

Most banks will have student accounts which will waive the fees but after you graduate you'll probably be reverted to the normal accounts. This is when changing to PC or Tangerine makes sense.
