Start working as a doctor in Canada

rudinas

Hi Guys,

Hope you all are well and enjoying the sunny days.

I thought there might be some doctors in this site who can give me some ideas. Some help is appreciated and welcome too.

I am an endocrinologist planning to move to Canada soon. At the moment I work in Albania where I was graduated.
My questions are:
What is the best region in Canada for doctors to find a job easily ( I mean if there is any announcement out there for any region that are desperately looking for doctors) ?
Related to exams for the license, what is the first step I have to take? Ive heard that they are going to change soon. Any additional info?
Do you think that it is doable in my age? :) Ive been working for 10 years as an endocrinologist.

Any information even for anything not mentioned here is very appreciated

Thank you for your feedback and help :)

Regards
Rudina

Hi rudinas, :)

I think that you should  send an email to the hospitals in Canada to know if they need an endocrinologist.

Good luck in your job search.

Bad news. To practice as a doctor in Canada, you must be licensed in Canad, regardless of your license and experience elsewhere. This normally requires 3 years of study and many exams..along with a supervised period in a controlled setting the medical authorities choose.

As Alec Inglis stated above, you need to get licensed in Canada in order to practice as a medical doctor.

Most medical schools in Canada only offer four year programs and require an undergraduate degree.

Specialist programs (ophthalmology, anaesthesiology, etc). require an additional four to six years of formal education.

Possible solution. Foreign medical professionals may qualify for an equivalency exam or process in Canada. Example: Philippines-licensed dentist may apply for a Canadian dental license upon successful completion of the NDEB Equivalency Process. However, these equivalency exams cost several thousand dollars and the pass rate is an abysmal 5% to 10%.
