After considering all the logistics we decided to keep our US numbers we've had for years. We have AT&T prepaid which provides full coverage in Mexico at no additional cost, and prepaid means we don't get charged for services we don't want. We use Whatsapp for calling local. There are some things we need a local number for so we bought a cheap Telcel phone to use for banking but we don't use it for day to day stuff.
