actually cancun is pretty ok, in general the south of mexico is a safe place to live in, yeah there can be some thiefs here and there but like in any other country, d most important thing is that you have to beware of anything or anyone weird, dont trust very easily to ppl u dont know and that kind of stuff....i really like cancun to live, actually im planning to go and look for a job there when i get back from india, i used to live there for 5 months like 4 years ago and i liked it! d only bad thing that i can find is d public transport :S i dont like it and sometimes the drivers are a lil bit rude if u ask somethin....but thats it...cancun is amazing place, specially playa del carmen is sooo relaxing and quiet

surth is quite, and chiapas is the best place, when do u think to move to mexico?

I'm in the same boat would love to move over to cancun it's an amazing place and has everything I like, been there a few times over the past few years and am looking in more depth to making a move over there in due time, holiday makers only see the outside of things but it would be great if any one can give information on the behind the scenes view about the place, jobs, place to rent, even if your one of them people who have made the step over there tell what the best step to take.

Hello, my name is Andy, I am from Norwich in Norfolk and i live in Cancun
I moved here from Mexico City about three months ago. it is relatively laid back, easy going. Yes there is crime here but no worse than any big city in the UK, it is easy to stay away from it.
You might be surprised that for a popular holiday destination of the Americans  relatively few people speak English (that makes any sense) Except in one of the local Wal-Marts, where you get many Americans, there many of the front of house staff speak English  well.
It is a great help if you speak some Spanish but you could get by with a phrase book

Moving to Cancun is a good start. After living there you may decide it's not for you or you may settle down there for good. But it's a good starting point to go exploring, learn a little spanish first, at least the basics. Chiapas is beautiful with jungles and ruins to explore and with rain and humidity. A lot of °µÍø½ûÇøs travel around Mexico until they find the area of their liking. My blog has a lot of photos of Mexico but °µÍø½ûÇøblog is the first stop.

We have lived in Mexico for 2 years now with 3 kiddos and write about it on our blog.  ENOSFAMILY.COM. 
Three months ago we moved from living on Lake Chapala all the way to the other side of Mexico to Playa del Carmen.  This area of Mexico is pretty safe.  You will probably at some point get your car broken into but will not have to deal with dangerous crimes.
There is so much to see and do and explore here.  It's always a good idea to visit first.  We are enjoying it very much. 
We counted the different countries that we have met people from in this short time.  17!!!  I love the mix of many cultures.
Usually you can find someone that speaks enough english to be helpful but you will want to learn some spanish if you decide to live here. 
We opted for living in Playa del Carmen over Cancun because it was a little to congested for our taste.  We do like it but to move with children makes for different priorities.

we have been living in Cancun for almost 4 years and have to say that crime seems to be at a low minimum.  Not saying it does not happen, but it seems to be not very bad at all compared to the last 16 years I spent in Southern California.  We are here with two kids and feel totally safe.

In terms of the good and the bad, language is not a huge issue.  Most people here speak some english and as a person who does not speak spanish it is pretty easy to get around and get stuff done.

it is a great place to live.   My only complaint or crtiism is the service in restaurants here is pretty low in most places.  Customer service at most restaurants and stores is pretty sub standard.

If you like the sea, hot weather year around, sea food then this is the place to be.  I guess it is like any where else there are good and bad to it all, but over all we love it.

Hello people in Can Cun
I am a crazy mexican that hasn't been able to become an °µÍø½ûÇøriate in Italy, Croatia, Serbija or Bosnia, may be Cuba one day because my wife is Cuban but not yet anyway. Will be arriving in Can Cun next week to find a job in some managerial position but that is still to be seen. My main skills are my spoken english, some italian and hrvatski. Outside of Mexico I am a cook a Cheff in some places like the balkans or so people said there. A CPA by profession and a Comercial Custodial Technician according to one diploma issued by an american comunity college.So, if any of you dear happy °µÍø½ûÇøriates in Mexico know about a good job to apply for I would be grateful for the tip. Thank you and keep enjoying paradise cause I will be there to enjoy it myself.
