Keeping up with the news in Papua New Guinea

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Living in Papua New Guinea provides countless occasions to browse local newspapers, listen to local radio stations or watch local TV shows. As everywhere else in the world, local media play a key role in informing the public.

What are the major media in Papua New Guinea? Which one do you use on a regular basis?

How do you keep up with international issues (newspapers, radio, TV, Internet)?

Thank you in advance!

Priscilla

Hi Priscilla,

All over the world major cities have different kind of Medias to reaching public but in the remote where is the access for?

In PNG its’ quite low of all other Medias, only Major cities like POM, Hagen, LAE, Madang, Alotau, Buka, Rabaul,, etc, how is useful in various provinces, most of the remote areas there is no electricity!! Think about how they will play media in key role…??? Only city public can enjoy…. here is order

Radio – this common media in remote and city areas.

News Paper- This is also same above media but they will read more brief in details, also some the areas in PNG, newspaper getting delay to reach them.

TV: This is more public can access in city only, few of remote areas

Internet: Only Cities, nowadays some of them getting mobile net, but in remote areas they don’t know how to use it and parallel thinking it’s too expensive to access...

Hope you may understand!!!
