11/12/22 Welcome, Janchi. Your overstay won't "become legal" -- you'll probably still owe the fines -- but you will be able to legalize your presence once your child is born and both your names are on the Brazilian birth certificate. An attorney might be able to help you get the fines reduced.

Was the foreign car driven into Brazil from a neighboring country where it was legally registered? If so, it may be possible to re-register it in Brazil once you're legal yourselves. The lawyer could help with that, too.

I was in that situation in December 2021 when I found out that my stay will be terminated the next day and I was no allowed to extend it more because I have already used the my 60 days in the year and I wasn't prepared to buy the ticket to exit Brazil the next day.

Luckily I found someone who actually understand this situation and helped. I first went to "regularize myself", that was the term she used, then became regular again and applied for residency. I just got my permanent resident card yesterday after many months of waiting.

Although I did not find this info on the internet, what I have learn from the person who helped me, " No-one is illegal in Brazil".

You are in an 'irregular" situation and you can fix this easily if you get the right person to help you and I was lucky to find her/them. Unfortunately I don't know the forum rules about referring people but I was definitely helped. Just be careful not to be ripped off by some people who tries to take advantage of others in the similar situation.

Further research on this makes me think that it may not be possible.  If you get a lawyer, you should ask him/her about it at the same time.  Chances are that if it's even allowed, you'll have to pay all the taxes on it that you would have paid if it had been purchased in Brazil.

nice question ,please let me know how did it go with you guys as we'll be facing the same situation, and i don't have a clue how long it may take to get our residency
