Family reunion (VITEM XI)


Eligibility:


Foreign citizens that wish to establish temporary residence in Brazil, as follows:


Spouse or partner of a Brazilian national or a foreigner with a residence permit in Brazil;


Child/grandchild of a Brazilian national or a foreigner with a residence permit in Brazil;


Stepchild of a Brazilian or an immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit (minor or up to 24 years of age, if proven to be a student, or any age, if proven to be economically dependent on the caller) ;


Parent/grandparent of a Brazilian national or a foreigner with a residence permit in Brazil;


Sibling (minor or financially dependent, if above 18 years old) of a Brazilian national or a foreigner with a residence permit in Brazil;


Who has an immigrant child who is the beneficiary of a residence permit;

Tutor/guardian of a Brazilian national.

@menna153 I would like to see a bit more clarification from more respondents in this post. I believe you are eligible for Permanent Residency based on the factors mentioned, however it is not "Passed On" to you. Applications and documents need to be submitted first. Believe me my wife and daughter are both brazilin and I am still Knee deep in process.

Be careful of your terminology, nothing is "passed", it is applied for to those who are qualified.  Go to this Brazilian website to see their current rules.
