I live in Arraial d'Ajuda, and it can be difficult to find any kind of international foods. They sell 'wraps' in the supermarket, but they don't compare. There really isn't a lot of choice.

I'll be returning soon after 8 years away.
Since I am mexican-american I always made my own mexican food and freinds in Trancoso are salivating to eat my tacos again !
We used to always have to bring corn and flour tortillas with us, putting dozens of them in the freezer on arrival.
Maybe someone knows if we can buy those now in any of the supermercados ?
What brands are they ?

Hard to score white corn flour.聽 You might have to settle with the yellow flour variety known as Fuba.

I live close to Natal, used to live in NM, so I can imagine Cindy your cooking must be a real treat!! I now make my own tortillas (learned from the internet) because, of course, New Mexican food is no where in sight! Good luck!! ClaudiaMonica

We miss Mexican food so much here! I live near Valen莽a still a long ways from you. In S茫o Paulo there鈥檚 a couple Mexican markets but it鈥檚 a real hit or miss. You can find some dried chilis there or online. I鈥檝e never run into tortillas. They sell flour wraps called rapidez and they鈥檙e an abomination

@ClaudiaMonica thanks for the input. I grew up making聽 flour tortillas and I've made those plenty of times in Brasil but I just want to get ready made. Corn are too hard to make without the right ingredients.Guess I'll just bring some down with me

Folks, you can get Harina Pan Branca on MercadoLivre. I have a friend here in PB setting up to produce tortillas and he tried this harina and says it's the best he's seen in Brazil. He was all set to process the local corn from scratch (he's Mexican and has done it) but tried the harina mentioned and said it will save him time. You can also find tortilla presses on MercadoLivre. Last time I was in New Mexico I bought one and found out later you can get them here.

Premade tortillas are also on MercadoLivre but I haven't tried them.

I haven't found ANY decent Mexican food restaurants in the northeast. If anybody has...........

@mberigan We missed good Indian and Thai curry, and could not find any restaurant who served them. So we spent months researching recipes and sourcing ingredients , and now we make several that are actually quite good. So good, in fact, others are paying us to produce them for them! We source and buy everything, do all the work, then supply complete frozen meals that just need reheating.... Maybe you should try that?!

Peter! You make Thai and Indian dishes that you sell to others? I LOVE that!!

@Peter Itamaraca in Liberdade S茫o Paulo the markets have Thai ingredients and ship nationally. Galangal I鈥檝e never found. There are Thai restaurants there too. If you鈥檙e in southern Bahia I鈥檇 buy some of your cooking too!

@cindylido I live in Arraial and there is a 鈥淢exican鈥� restaurant in Porto Seguro near the Balsa that has tacos made with flour tortillas. I think the name is Mexicana.

@edrosamond I live in Arraial also. On the road that goes to Trancoso near the ceramics place.

@edrosamond O.k. thanks for the reply. Back in 2015 there was little Mexican restaurant that had opened up not far from Broadway. Don't remember the name. I don't think I ever tried it. Thought if they were still there they might have a source for buying corn tortillas. Guess they are gone ????
