07/23/23 Dear all, my child has Brazilian passport. Me and my wife had permanent residency to Brazil but we couldn’t visit Brazil for more than 2 years. Now our residency is not valid. We applied normal visit visa to Brazil twice however it got rejected.
I have a job in UAE and we want to visit Brazil during our child’s school vacation to show him Brazil. He is 9 years old. And to see if we can setup something there for retirement.
pls help. How to enter Brazil.

Good morning.  It's unfortunate that you and your wife allowed your permanent residency to lapse.  As a Brazilian citizen, your son has the right to live in Brazil and to bring his parents and any minor siblings there to live with him.  He doesn't have any right to bring foreign relatives to Brazil just to visit while he's living abroad, though, which is essentially what you're proposing.

The best you can hope for is to show enough ties to the UAE -- home ownership, bank accounts, jobs, etc. --that the Brazilian Consulate is convinced that you'll return to the UAE and not overstay a visit visa.  They may grant you a visit visa on that basis.  Avoid any discussion of "setting something up there for retirement", or any other suggestion that you plan on remaining.  Once you're in Brazil, you can try to reapply for residency on the basis of your son's citizenship.

For your son's sake, make sure that his Brazilian Passport is always valid and up to date.  He can't be deprived of his citizenship for having an expired passport, but things will just be much easier if his documentation is always valid. 

@n_ali My best wishes for a positive outcome to your situation. I totally agree with @abthree. My lawyers have been working on my Permanent Residency two months now. I am American and live in Brazil with my Brazilian wife. We have one daughter who has Brazilian citizenship. I can tell you that with all that we have been through to get Permanent Residency by spouse we would never let it lapse.
