Protocol for address change

Canforbra

I am currently in sp and I am thinking of moving to sao carlos. My information is in the process stage. For my residency. I know I can change my address online. However is it better to wait for the card and change the address after?

I am not sure on the moving date as it will be to my mother-in laws house.

03/14/24 @Canforbra.  You should always wait to report a change of address to the PF until you complete the move.  Then do it ASAP.  Otherwise, you risk causing confusion that could be difficult to unravel if things don't go exactly according to plan.

Also, if you're over 60 and you have a CRNM with an expiration of INDETERMINATE you don't need to report change of address.  You are free to move within the country without reporting.

I'm very curious and know it is none of my business, may I ask you how you chose Sao Carlos as your new home? I too lived in SP and have been moving up to Sao Jose Do Rio Preto. I am on the bus often and enjoy their stop Graal São Carlos. I  have also driven through the city a number of times.

Can you point me to the section of the immigration law where this is stated? I would be interested in reading up in this. I never heard this tidbit if information before.

mikehunter

@bepmoht Unfortunately no.  There was an older post in this forum that mentioned it and I also read it on another website.  Of course, I can find neither now.  If you find it, please post.  It is true, but as with most things CRNM related, it's a treasure hunt to find, unfortunately.  I should have bookmarked both.  Hindsight is 20/20.

@bepmoht Here is the first part:

The links on the PF website are broken and this one isn't directly accessible unless you happen to have the correct link.  The same thing applies to change of address.  If I find it, I'll post, but it's like a needle in a haystack to trip across it.

Anyone who finds it please post.

Thanks!
