07/10/24  Hi, I am a filipina and I am coming to brasil this coming september with a possibility of getting married to my brazilian boyfriend. Anyone here knows what are the requirements needed to get married? I am afraid we might missed an important documents needed. Thank you in advance        -@Ni Ming Ha

Every cartório (registry office) in Brazil operates by its own rules, so your boyfriend should go to the cartório where you'll be married and find out before you travel whether they require anything in addition to the requirements below.   Be aware that the cartório will require you to be in Brazil legally when you apply for your marriage license, and still to be legal when you get married.  There will be a 30 day waiting period between getting the license and your planned wedding day, and if your visa expires between, the cartório probably will not marry you.  So be sure to start the process as soon as possible after you arrive in Brazil.

Once you're married, you will need additional documents to request permanent residency from the Federal Police, so bring these documents with you as well.  You can find the list at this thread:

The general requirements for you to get married are:

Required documents

Single foreigners

Original legalized birth certificate translated by a sworn public translator in Brazil and registered at the Registry Office of Titles and Documents

Original legalized declaration of marital status translated by a sworn public translator in Brazil and registered at the Registry Office of Titles and Documents

Original passport, with the entry stamp in Brazil (if the fiancé(e) comes to Brazil to register the marriage)

Divorced foreigners

Original legalized divorce certificate translated by a sworn public translator in Brazil and registered at the Registry Office of Titles and Documents

Original legalized marriage certificate translated by a sworn public translator in Brazil and registered at the Registry Office of Titles and Documents

Original passport, with the entry stamp in Brazil (if the fiancé(e) comes to Brazil to register the marriage)

Widowed foreigners

Original legalized death certificate translated by a sworn public translator in Brazil and registered at the Registry Office of Titles and Documents

Original legalized marriage certificate translated by a sworn public translator in Brazil and registered at the Registry Office of Titles and Documents

Original passport, with the entry stamp in Brazil (if the fiancé(e) comes to Brazil to register the marriage)

Legalization of foreign documents

Due to Brazil's accession to the Hague Convention, foreign public documents will no longer be legalized by the Brazilian Consulate in the country of origin and will be legalized by authorized agencies for foreigners.

If the country is not a member of the Hague Convention, the original documents (certificates, declarations and powers of attorney) must be legalized by the Brazilian Consulate in the country of origin.

@abthree thank you very much for this information. My boyfriend insisted to get a lawyer for this. Do you really think it's necessary? I mean I will stay only for 25 days in Brasil and I am not sure if they will allow us to get married during this time.

Your boyfriend is right, so trust him on this.  You cannot allow only 25 days for a legal process in Brazil that requires at least 30 days and expect to be successful without effective professional help that starts before you even arrive.  So let him hire the lawyer, be prepared to follow all of the lawyer's instructions, and arrive in Brazil with all the required documents.  Doing this, you have a good chance of success.  Otherwise, although you'll have a great visit with your boyfriend and a good time in Brazil, you'll probably go home still single.
