Looking forward to answers. My daughter in the USA will inherit a LOT of property when the time comes. Just curious about the process. This is Property Only. She currently has access to ALL my money already.

FYI She is an American & Brazilian citizen.

It is possible, but in no way is it easy.

A lot depends on your situation - do you have any kind of Brazilian status, permanent visa, etc - without which you will not be able to open a bank account? Was the estate fully completed, with all taxes paid? Do you, or does anyone, have a Power of Attorney from the deceased? Has the death been registered? What about Capital Gains Tax, etc, etc, etc?

My mother inherited from my grandfather after he had retired to Spain, but that was a long time ago long before the EU, and virtually all the inheritance was spent in legal fees trying to repatriate the estate - that could be the same in this case...

Where is the property, and what is it? Maybe someone local could also help you?

I would talk to Phillipe Macedo. He is a lawyer...a very good one and holds a real estate license as well. He can help you out I am sure. I had a very complicated case and he was a godsend.
