Airmail to the USA. ...nightmare ....

Alascana

Has anyone experienced a long delay in a letter sent to the USA taking more than 5 weeks?.

I mailed a letter 5 weeks past , and the flipn, frign letter has not arrived.

I  printed Par Avion and EUA on the envelope ?????...

Do anyone know if All Outbound Mail must go through Sao Paulo for it seems all Inbound comes through the Hades Hole...lol...kkk

Thanks, and is it now a good time to file a lost or stolen item report to the Reciever?

I recently recieved a letter mailed from the USA in January arrived April 12,2019   ......okay

Just the Horror Stories of Outbound Mail Destination USA. ....

And please no SedX or DHL or USPS Express mail should haves...lol

My brother´s letters from California to Rio Grande do Sul usually takes 24 to 30 days by regular mail.
However, Rio Grande do Sul to California takes 7-10 days by regular mail and never lost any.
Hmmmm... Did you register the letter?

In theory, every letter must pass through São Paulo inbound and outbound. The Par Avion sticker is usually supplied by the post office... It should not make any difference even if you wrote it. I usually write USA and enclosed in parenthesis would be Estados Unidos da America.

Americans (like me) have the habit of putting the return address or sender on the upper left hand corner of letters. DON´T!!!! In Brazil, the receiver´s address in front and the sender at the back. I did that once and my letter for the States went back to my P.O. Box. I don´t know how that could happen because the quantity and amount of stamps denotes a far away destination. I complained and the solution they sent to my P.O Box was that I should not place the sender´s or return address to the upper left hand corner the next time! So I was to blame and not the ignorant mail man! And the letter
was time sensitive!

Thanks robal, I did put the return on the front of the envelope and no Registry,  I understand now the Hades Hole is maybe the stick up... I'll give it time to arrive.
In the Future "Registry" or Expadiated" Services... my mind can only take so much.....and I agree on some mail carriers. I spoke to one of the carriers in my new location and he said my town was the worse in Bahia for mail service...nice people though...lol...I will go with the 2 addresses on the front, so robal I will choose #1 for 20r....lol...kkk... now we're play Mailardy (jeopardy)..love Brazil or go home....kkkk

Alascana

I love Brazil but also hate the place at the same time because of THOSE THINGS! It does appear like a complicated marriage relationship...

Alascana

.robal, I go with the Brazilian wife and a debit card?

The divorce is questionable for I find Brazil to be a unbridled Bride and I proposed to her....

yet the nuisance grows old .

We Shall not be moved and neither our Mail by  rain, sleet or snow or Sao Paulo shall stay our delivery....

And just think I retired from the Postal Service and that's no way to treat a Comrade in Mail....lol...

The "bush pilots" are on strike.
Par Avion is done at PO and rate calculated. All our mail goes via Curitiba.
Works ok to Texas, NY and CA. 6 days max.

Now, you going to spring for express next time, or you going to save your pennies and put yourself through all this again?  Enquiring minds want to know!  :dumbom:

FEDEX and e-mail.  Pay the price.

The Brazilian Postal System is a joke, matter of fact a lot of branches have been have become private franchised units.

Unlike the USPS that is completly unionized, but at the least you can expect some degree of quality.

For most part, do not expect to see your friendly mail carrier making every day runs at your neighborhood.

An elder German gentlemen once told me that even during the WWII the German Post worked like a clock even through the war.

To think that the Brazilian Post will not provide service in  "challenged" areas now  only proves that Brazilians are not to be taken seriously.
