When I applied, the easiest path for me was the professional visa.  At the time, all you needed was to show basic income and have your degree (BA/BS or higher) registered with SENESCYT.  Unlike the investment visa, you didn't need money tied up in a property or CD (I actually have both anyway, but if you sell them it can be a bureaucratic PITA).  Also, I was 38 when I "retired" and moved here, so what they used to call the retirement visa wasn't an option for me.  Not sure if it is still as easy to get.

One recommendation: if you are going to go the professional visa route, I'd recommend having someone get your degree registered at least (if not getting the whole visa process started) before you leave.  If they don't accept your degree or if they need additional - probably apostilled - documentation, that'll be a much bigger pain once you are already here.  Imagine the most absurd bureaucratic BS and that will possibly come close to approximating dealing with the government / gov't agents in Ecuador.

Hello.  Can/US duel citizen here wanting to move to Ecuador permantly.  I have a college degree, but will probably go the route of investor visa.  I’m pitted between Salinas ;for the weather) or Cuenca (more amenities and fellow °µÍø½ûÇøs).  Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
