New to Cuenca from Minneapolis

Lehnertm1980

Hi, I am new to the area.  Anyone around here that would like to meet up for a coffee and chat (or whatever?)  My boyfriend works 24 hours on, 24 off, so I have lots of free time to just walk around and whatever.  Id love to meet a friend from back home to infiltrate my support system here in Ecuador.  I have only been here about seven days.  Drop me a line, I hope to hear from you!!!!!

Hi. I'm sure your focus is on meeting °µÍø½ûÇøs there but if you have time to answer questions from someone who is moving there in Feb that would be great. I would love to hear about your new experiences because I will be in the same situation in a few months and I have lots of questions about things that happen when you first arrive (like how hard it is to find a rental) and did you ship anything or just bring everything in suitcases. By the way, where are you staying? Thanks, Diane

Hi Megan, I'm from Mendota Heights, grew up in St Paul. I have lived in Ecuador over 3 years now all in Cuenca. You can email me, be happy to chat about Cuenca or Minney.

Hi Lehnertm1980

I'm not consider myself a 100% °µÍø½ûÇø because I'm half ecuadorian but I live for many years abroad of Ecuador.

So, if you want to know about this city in a "local" way contact me.

Hi, and welcome to Cuenca.
Some things you can do to acquaint yourself with Cuenca, the °µÍø½ûÇø circuit and such:
go to cuencahighlife.com . There are several emails daily of events, stuff for sale or wanted and so forth.
there are several Gringo happy hours in town - [Moderated: no self-advertising pls], Zoe's on Pres. Borrero Friday evenings and also at CA Kitchen 5 blocks north of Zoes, Inca Bistro/bar on Sunday afternoons on 3 de Noviembre
Thursdays there is a Newbie Gringo night at DiBacco, just for newcomers to ask questions of °µÍø½ûÇøs who have been here a while. This week features Edd Statton of EddSaid - on of the most widely read blogs on Cuenca.
Hope this helps some. if you want to stop by the restaurant we are always up for talking and sharing.
Good luck
John

My wife and I will be visiting Cuenca at the end of February as a preliminary visit to moving to Ecuador. Would love to meet up with some °µÍø½ûÇøs who have been there a while so we can pump you for information. We will be arriving on 2/23 and will be there until 3/2.

I'm always happy to help new folks moving here.  Contact me directly at eddsaid@gmail.com.  Megan, I was once made a connecting flight in the Minneapolis airport--does that count?

Can anyone recommend a hotel or maybe a B&B for while we are in Cuenca?

Barrett

We know how that is to make the move. It is wonderful here but regulations for residency visas and tourist visa have been changing. We have put together a free 16 report on Moving and Living in Ecuador.

If you think isn might be of use send request to
