Attorney fees

drksmoen

We will be moving to Cuenca from California next September/October.  We contacted an attorney's office in Cuenca to help with the immigration paperwork.  We were told that their fees would be $1,600.  This amount does not include government fees, of course.

Is this the normal market rate?  We ask because someone had suggested that $400-$500 was normal, but I'm not sure if that was accurate and based on personal experience or simply a guess.

Does anyone have personal experience with this and could verify these fees are market rate?

Thanks so much.

Mmmh.. it is definitely too high. Legal fees are usually between US$ 600 and US$ 800. I would suggest to consider another lawyer. Check this forum thoroughly, there is an interesting number of legal services suggestions from experienced °µÍø½ûÇøs here. Good luck!

I offer a free residency visa consultation for any guest interested in the topic out of my B&B in Guayaquil, Murali Hostal.  You DONT need to use a lawyer for this type of deal... you could just use a translator/facilitator for around $400 per person or even do it yourself if you speak Spanish.  saludos, Dom
