Doctors in Asuncion

rschulenberg

hey all, I'm going to be doing a semi-move to Paraguay and am wondering about specialists doctors down there in Asuncion. Just found out that I am having some problems with an enlarged thyroid and some nodules and need to have it looked at down there. My wife and daughter have been to Bautista and really like that hospital. Have any of you had any other experiences/recomendations? I believe that it is an Otorrinolaringolo that I would need to find. Also, how are they with ultrasounds/CT scans/MRI's.
thank you

Hi rschulenberg,

welcome to °µÍø½ûÇø! :)

You will need an endocrinologist and maybe a surgeon if they'd like to drain the thyroid cyst or take a biopsy. Hospital Bautista is a good hospital, as you said. Other good hospitals in Asuncion are Sanatorio San Roque, Sanatorio Migone, and hospital La Costa.

Guide to Paraguay

If you are going to be here long term (more than a year) you might consider getting private health insurance.  Unlike in the US health insurance here covers the small stuff - doctor´s visits, etc but not large things like dialysis.  If you want to cover all your bases you´ll need both a normal plan and a "alta complejidad" plan.  Popular health insurance companies are Oami and Asismed.
