I have been asked recently by my clients ‘who can ask to see my documents when out driving?’ I thought that this may be of use to others as well.
Municipality police may see Drivers licence Tax certificate
They may not see your cedula, vehicle registration document nor your car insurance.
They wear different uniforms depending on their municipality. Often blue trousers and white or blue shirt. In Asuncion they wear blue trousers and white shirts.
National police may see Cedula Vehicle registration (Cedula verde) Car insurance
They may not see your driverÂ’s licence nor your car tax certificate.
Their uniforms are sandy coloured shirts and trousers.
Policia Caminera these are traffic police, they can see all your documents.
Their uniforms are light blue shirts and grey trousers.
Hi Asantander, this was a very interesting topic that you put up. I could have used this a few months ago when we got pulled over in 25 de diciembre. the municipalidad asked for my license, cedula, cedula verde, etc. Now, with your help, I'll know what to say to some of these people. thanks, Ryan
