Hello,

im a Canadian getting married to my Peruvian partner and I鈥檓 wondering what declaration of being single works:

single declaration I write and get signed by a notary
provincial marriage search

Do I also need this:

Statement in lieu of certificate of non-impediment to marriage abroad (Canada does not do certificates of non-impediment)

or is one of the above forms sufficient?

@jennahurtubise I think it would be best to ask your partner to go to the registry and make enquiries about the documents you'd need to bring along with you. They have a list of documents you'd need to bring or submit as a foreigner. It's important to do this to rule out any form of unnecessary stress. It also helps with what you also need to legalize.

It's pretty stressful if you come here with incomplete documents and I wouldn't want that for you.
