Traveling to Egypt..

Nay84

Hi there!  My boyfriend and I are suppose to be traveling to Egypt next Sunday - flying into Cairo and traveling to Dehab then Jordan for Petra and then back to Cairo for our departing flight.  I have heard so many mixed reviews but I really want to hear from people that live in the areas we will be traveling to.  With the recent events that took place, would you advise a trip to Egypt right now?  Any tips for safety?  Any information you can provide would be appreciated!  Thank you so much!

Hello
I was just in south Sinai , near dahab , went to moses mountain ( saint catherine church )1 week before the unfortunate crash , and it was very safe , a side from the regular checkup points on the road it was a beautiful and smooth trip , it took about 7-8 hours with two 30 minute rests  ,

and on our way back we waited for like an hour or so just to complete a convoy of buses ( 4-6 buses ) and we were escorted by the police

the checkpoints and police escort are just precaution measures for the tourists safety only , not because there are troubles or fights in south Sinai ,

the only area in Sinai having instability is North sinai and not all of it its only a small part ,  ( 500++ km away from south Sinai )

i would say south Sinai is a lot more safer than Cairo (like Ethioshushu just said its safe  )  ,

Wish you a pleasant experience in Egypt
