Kenyan citizenship

7nyerik

After living in Kenya for 40 years, and 7 years after applying, I have finally, officially, become a citizen of Kenya. I'm wondering if there are people here who would like to know of that journey. I'm not an agent of any sort and I don't want any remuneration of any kind. But if there are people here who would like to discuss issues concerning becoming a Kenyan, I'd also be interested.

Assuming that you are:
1.  not someone who lost their Kenyan citizenship previously
2.  not married to a Kenyan citizen
Then one must be living in Kenya on a work permit (not a dependant's pass or other permit) for the last 7 consecutive years. One needs to have Kenya income tax clearance, police clearance, know Swahili (or some other indigenous Kenyan language) and indicate they intend to make Kenya their home in the future.  They need to understand the rights, privileges, and duties of a citizen of Kenya. And have a good understanding of Kenya's history and geography.  If you can do all of that, you can start an online application at
