ER Visa Requirements

w20415

Im currently in Cambodia on an Evisa. I will return to USA for a month then plan on  coming back on an ER visa. I plan on locating to Kampot.    I have a few questions.   1) What do they screen for on the health certificate? I have high cholesterol.  Any one recommended a clinic for the screening? 2) Where can I get a suitable background check? 3) What is a good heath insurance company to use? Thanks

Rely on other posters input but im confident your cholestrol reading will not be of concern.

I would think you are also likely on statins to reduce it anyway.  Its my understanding subject to correction that they screen for rhings like TB  HIV, Syphilis, Drugs use, Filariasis.

My unserstanding is (correct me if wrong) tjat a police check is not required unless specifically requested by an employer.  That said get a police check from you home country before you leave or from rhe country you reside in if you have lived there for 2 years or more. Getting one from your embassy although probably possible is likely time consuming.

@w20415 an ER visa extension is pretty easy to get if you are over 55. I just renewed mine here in Siem Reap and was asked no questions or required to prove income or anything.  I never did a background check or had any kind of health screening. When I got back in 2022, I got the ordinary visa and called this reputable agent in Phnom Penh and she extended it to the ER in three days for me at a cost of $270.  This last time, a Khmer family member did the extension for me. It took two weeks from Siem Reap to get it done. It cost $300 for the year.

There are health insurance companies in Cambodia you can find searching on google. I investigated one before I decided to simply not do that at all. its a matter of personal choice.  I guess its ironic that my Khmer partner is the one with health issues and I have been fine here.

I don't know anything about the EB visa extension or its requirements but you mentioned specifically the ER visa extension.

I am 54 and got a 12-month multiple entry Retirement Visa earlier this year, 2023. With the visa, I opened a bank account with Wing Bank, and I find them very good. I use the app to pay for 95% of my stuff, the same as ABA. The reception guy at Lux Hotel on St# 136 in Phnom Penh organised it for me. I did not need to show my Military pension information, medical information, financial information or anything else.  I paid the fee six days after I received it. Been in and out of Cambodia several times since. I will renew it in 2024.

Medical insurance. Most of mine is covered by DVA, but I use travel insurance as I go in and out to other Asian countries a lot. There are a few companies that offer °µÍø½ûÇø medical cover in Cambodia, but it depends on existing conditions and other factors.

I would suggest you do your visa now, and then you come back in on the ER visa.

NOTE:

Make sure you enter Cambodia on a Business Evisa, not a Tourist Evisa. They can not convert a Tourist visa to an ER class visa. If not, you will need to do a visa run.

@mpmilestogo. What do you mean you decided not to do health insurance at all?  It is a requirement, Correct?  I submitted a quote and it came back like 900 Euro a month.  I was shocked.   That doesn't sound right.   Is there a way around the ER Visa insurance requirement?  Thanks

Don't know in which bar you heard it but it's NOT a requirement, never has been.

ER means give your passport to the agent, a photo, money. That's it.

Cheers.

Thanks for responding. Got the info from a web site.  The web site also listed 3 links to health insurance companies ....  Great news it's not needed. Looking forward to getting settled in Kampot.  Regards
