Salary of Thai national

cthierrymk

We have often in mind the minimum salary of 300 THB per day, or the housekeeper paid 9,000 THB per month, but there are Thai national well qualified with excellent salary ( there is big gap between qualified and non qualified people in Thailand ).

Link below will give you some informations about salary depending on the job description, position, as well as informations about bonus, others advantages, social charge, overtime regulation, Severance Payment Entitlements ( many forget that when they buy a business and it can be costly after ), and also bank holidays.

Some notes about this survey :

These figures are based on the results of a survey of BOI-promoted companies, conducted in June 2015

The salaries assume staff who are Thai nationals, with at least a reasonable command of English (or better, for the more senior jobs). If the English proficiency is not strong, salaries may be slightly lower. Similarly, for those positions where certifications are indicated in the job description, candidates without certification can generally be hired for somewhat less.

The one who does this chart is plucking figures from the air and is not on the ground with realistic figures.

It's not comparing apple with apple.

Based on Thailand minimum daily wage of 300 baht pet day is unskilled labour.

Singapore and Brunei figures are not minimum wages. These 2 countries hire foreigners as unskilled labour from India; Pakistan; China; Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Previously they hired Thais but trim down a lot because of various negative factors. Besides Thais could not speak English.

The actual figures for minimum wages for Singapore and Brunei are much lower but higher than Thailand.

The figures shown are consider semi skill workers.

When one looks at stastics, one need to compare identical.

I do not mean you are wrong, Thierry but the Thai guy who does the chart.

Thanks for the info 😊

These 2 countries : Singapore and Brunei do not have "official" minimum wage, I agree on that fact.

The figure for these 2 countries may look high also, I think should be more around 600-700 THB.

However we don't need to focus too much about these top 2 countries.

I have published this chart to show that there are many countries with lower minimum wage than Thailand.

It has been announced also in the news that the 300 THB national daily minimum wage will be scrapped next year, to be replaced by the old system where wages vary by each province based on the cost of living.

That clear that foreigner like burmese in Thailand are paid less than the 300 THB per day, but more than in their home country for the same job.

Another clarification about Thailand, in my initial post about the survey, it was written :

Salaries are subject to 5% Social Security Fund contribution and 1% Workmen’s Compensation contribution (for the first 15,000 baht per month of salary).

This 5 % are detailed in the table below :

bkk tea blog

There was just an article about poor conditions in tea growing areas in India that cited standard wages and what those growers earned there.

It looks as if the standard minimum wage is just over $2 per day (70 baht), but that due to receiving housing and whatever other compensation the tea farmers only earn two thirds that:

Tea workers in Assam earn 115 rupees a day, just over £1 ($1.50) , significantly below the minimum wage (177 rupees in Assam).
