Hello from Canada

2canadians

Hi, my husband and I are looking to retire to the Corozal area within 2-3 years. We're planning to visit for a month or so to really check things out and would love to communicate with anyone already there. Feel free to message us!

Cheers :)

My wife and I have our retirement house in between Corozal Town and Cosejo Shores/Village.  We'd be willing to help by answering any questions you have about the area.  We purchased our property (4 acres on the sea) 12 years ago.

Thank you Sheetul for moving my post ;) and

corozal dave for your reply!

Right now my 2 largest questions are re hurricanes... my biggest fear, and humidity, is it humid year round? Also, when is the best time of the year for us to visit to experience Corozal for a month or so?

Hurricanes are not a big worry on my part.  My place was hit by Dean a couple of years ago and no major damage, lost a few trees and the rest were stripped of their leaves but all grows back.  Now that Corozal has been hit maybe it will be 20 years until the next one.  You always have plenty of warning so those who fear/respect it can move inland if they wish.

I just got back on Saturday from Corozal, and yes it was very hot and humid.  Humidity is very high July-Sept, but it doesn't bother me much, my wife hates it.

For cooler and less humid times I'd suggest March-May or Nov-Dec, I left out January and Feb as it can be a bit cool in those months.

Hello, Canadians!
I lived in Ottawa and St. John, NB when I was growing up. I'm British but have been an ex-pat most of my life. One of my best experiences was living in Barbados for 7 years from the age of 12-18.  I think Barbados and Belize probably have a lot in common, although I haven't visited Belize yet, but plan to in the near future. Like, Belize, Barbados was a British territory (until independence in 1965) and both have tropical climates. I have never been able to live in a place with cold winters since living there. That's why I currently live in Florida. Also, both countries have a multi-cultural population. I went to a British school in Barbados. We wore awful pale green uniforms with ties and panama hats!
Anyway, I am thinking of visiting Belize perhaps at the end of this year or early 2011. The Corozal region is one of the areas I want to see, as well as the Cayo region around San Ignacio. I love the beach but I also love the mountains.
So, I just thought I would say hi. Maybe we can share ides and information.
Best wishes,
Carol
