Getting our dogs to the Dominican Republic from USA

Nick Boork

My wife Yngris and I are about to retire. We're planning the move to Santiago DR and would love to bring our two dogs Blessing & Agape but we're having a difficult time finding a carrier. Any success stories or shipping resources?

I see you found the other thread with info

Hi Planner,

Contacted Codie and his company CWEL. Very good communicator providing all the details we needed. He said he would love to travel with our dogs and bring them from Michigan all the way down to Santiago. If everything works to plan my wife Yngris & I will be headed back to Santiago on a one way ticket late summer / early fall 2025.

Thank you for all the articles and helpful info. Will be in touch.

We recently used Codie and his company CWEL.  He is amazing, everything went better than expected.

The back story.

We reached out to pet shippers, after seeing what they wanted to do and how much is cost, I moved away from them.  I tried to ship my male German Shepherd from US to Santiago, DR my self.  Checking airlines, all required me to ship cargo for his size.  The problem is the shipping crate would be taller than 27 inches.  Other problems, some airlines don't ship pets, and all don't ship above 85 degrees F.  Some only ship Military with duty station change orders or government officials.  After that I checked shipping on a cruise ship, that was a no go also.  Then I found Codie.

His rate was reasonable, his service was flexible, and as it turned out, he is a very nice respectful gentleman.  He also may be somewhat of a dog whisperer.

Codie's website is CWEL Transport, CWELTRANSPORT.COM and email CODIE@CWELTRANSPORT.COM also Codie Welychka on Facebook.

To finish the story, we drove from Colorado to JFK airport in Queens, NY so the trip for our dog would be as short as possible.  Met Codie at the Hotel the night before we and they flew.  We flew first to be there when Codie arrived.

This is a good option if you need to transport a large dog or any animal for that matter.

This is great news for us dog lovers. Would someone mind sharing a ballpark figure of how much to expect to pay for Cody's transport service? I'm not planning on moving anytime soon but would like to know how much to budget for when making plans for the big leap. Thanks!
