Info on the South West Coast

captsam54

I am sure many of you have traveled or toured the South West Coast and may have tips and tricks when traveling around.. Which B&B or Hotel is great and fairly priced.  Which beach is a must,The Cave Paintings. Road conditions etc. Found lots of info on Dr.1 but not much if anything here.. Looking to go out west from past Santo Domingo along the coast.... Anything I absolutely need to know??? Then probably will trek across the country to Monti Cristo and back east along the north coast... Want to go by Moto.. But probably not practical... And I suspect neither is a small rental car....

Oh yea, and I will be budget conscious. LOL.. or want to be....

I live in San Cristobal, which is the first city west of the Capital and in a province with the least number of °µÍø½ûÇøs. It´s worth a half-day just to see Trujillo´s hill-top mansion shaped like a ship. From the top ¨deck¨´ you can see the capital and the ocean.  Taking backroads, you can whiz thru the beach towns of Najayo and Palenque, each have cheap hotels, then check out
Salinas south of Bani.  I haven´t been to Barahona, which has a beautiful beach. Travel is certainly possible by moto. I  take my pasola to Palenque and Bani, but only with several bikes for safety.  William, San Cristobal.
