Moving to Puerto Rico just before the crisis
Hi everybody,
Taking the plunge and daring to move abroad is a real challenge, but when your move to Puerto Rico is marked by an unprecedented health, social and economic crisis, as we have been experiencing for just over a year, this change can be much more significant and demanding. If you moved to Puerto Rico shortly before or during the pandemic, we would like to know more about your experience.
When and under what circumstances did you move to Puerto Rico?
What impact did the restrictions have on your integration into the country?
Were you able to make new friends in your host country and get used to the new culture and environment?
Have you had the opportunity to discover the country or the region where you are staying despite that?
Do you feel "at home" in this new place?
Thanks for your contribution!

I actually moved to PR 2 weeks before hurricane Maria... so I have learned a lot. My husband and I own a house in Cabo Rojo, we have a business in Lajas and things are looking good.
After living in Puerto Rico for the pass 11 years I can say that anything called crisis in Puerto Rico has been overly exaggerated by the media. If it was not because of local government mismanagement of public funds and stupid senseless Covid related shutdowns things would be at leves much better that Singapore
I have been here for 7 yrs. I have had enough of the incompetent government mishandling every dama situation it touches.  This incompetence government handling this virus has set me to the end of my rope. We are moving. We have packing, sorting and selling everything. I cant imagine anywhere else being as bad as it is here.
I will be relieved once we finally can put this part of the chapters of our lives behind us.
California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey are just a few examples of places worst than Puerto Rico.
Only 6 us states are doing better then puerto rico for new daily cases, it's an epic failure here
If you want to compare we can do that
Total cases
Taiwan 1,104
Pr 141,386
New cases
Taiwan 14
Pr 1747
Total deaths
Taiwan 12
Pr 2264
Active cases
Taiwan 46
Pr137,584
Deaths per million
Taiwan 0.5
Pr 2,264
Population
Taiwan 22,851,964
Pr.      3,386,941
You see the problem? It's the mishandling of this pandemic in pr.  Both these places are islands
And actually Taiwan is close to China, so they should have had more case the pr
As you said, only 6 states are doing better than PR. The handling of then pandemic as a whole in the U.S. was an epic failure and cases are on the rise again on the mainland so if you are trying to run from the pandemic failures, you will need to leave the United States.
As a person who has a home in Puerto Rico and New Jersey and goes to New York, you have no idea what you are talking about. You can’t compare living in NJ/NY and Puerto Rico both have good and bad. What kind of real estate person are you?
We are leaving the us. We have no control with arrivals, that's the first thing ti fix. 2nd the police need to dontheir job and arrest people. We have no real consequences or harsh punishments for these irresponsible peoples behavior. This will continue because the government here is completely incompetent and its never ending. Everything they touch goes to shit
