Lay off - Single Permit

Tsovinar

Hello everyone,

I was laid off from my current job and my company told me I will have 3 months to either find another job or leave the country.

Considering the situation in job market now I am afraid 3 months won't be enough to find another job. Do you know if there are any ways to extend that period ? And in case I find a job do you know how long the new permit will it take to be approved and if I will be allowed to stay in Belgium and wait for my new single permit here ?

Looking forward to some information !

If you find a new job, under recent changes in regulation, your employer can transfer the current permit to their name. Recently in 2020, one of my friends have done the same.

I was checking with my previous employer, they had no clue about this procedure.

Do you know how this procedure is called ? or do you have any link where I can read more about it ?

It will be really really helpful :)  Looking forward to your reply.
