Renewal of Driving Licence at 70

MacGeorge8035

Good Morning

My wife has a Cypriot Driving Licence which was issued last year. She is going to be 70 in a couple of months and she needs to renew her licence. So I have a couple of questions.

Can we renew her Licence at the Citizen Service Centre or do we have to go to the Department of Transport?

We know she has to have a medical form filled in by our Personal Doctor, but we have also been told she will need an eye test and possibly a hearing test. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Finally, how long does the renewal take?

Good morning.

I found the process straightforward my GP completed and signed the form. I then made an appointment at the citizens assistance office. There was no need to visit elsewhere and no eye tests etc required .

In due course I returned to check if my licence was available as I hadn't heard. I was told no but insisted the lady checked her folder of received licences.

Mine was there. After years in Cyprus I have learned to be a bit pushy when necessary.

Do you know if you can continue driving whilst you are waiting for the renewal if my wife turns 70 in the meantime

Not done the 70 year renewal but I applied for my UK transfer license 4 months ago and went to the Paphos Citizens Center with all my docs and forms. They told me they no longer do it and sent me to Paphos DOT to get this done.

As we know it might depend on who you see but that was my experience lol DOT said they would SMS me when the license was ready but guess what they never did and i just went in and asked for it 2 months after!

I seem to remember DOT did the exchange from UK License. But renewals etc were administered by Citizens Office.
