TCNs incl Brits and work permits

Toon

We all know it's a problem and thus difficult for TCNs to work in Cyprus (and that includes Brits now) . However it's not impossible

Under normal circumstances TCNs are third in line for all jobs... Except for highly skilled and in-demand skills.

Most Temporary Residency permits for TCNs disallows working.

There are fields of work where special rules exist whereby TCNs are allowed to be employed .. IE in the fields of hospitality, tourism and agriculture when there are provable shortages.

In these cases the employer can apply for special permission/licence to employ TCNs when those shortages can be proved to be affecting business. I believe there is a timeframe or window involved in this process and if the criteria is met then permission is granted by way of a licence being issued.

Many businesses do not have the licence or cannot meet the criteria and others just can't be bothered with the extra paperwork and potentially the expense of doing so. But some do and can, so don't be put off trying. Do your research and groundwork.

Should you be lucky to get that job and the work permit that goes with it, be aware that the permit is quite specifically for that job and employer. It is not valid for any other job or employer thus can't be transferred to the same job with another employer, so the process starts again.

Good luck
