Tax declaration if married

kolibriex

Hey guys ,
me and my partner want to get married next year and right now I keep myself busy with reading about the legal aspects of being married in Germany.
I came across this website :

Do I understand that correctly that I have to do a tax declaration when I'm married no matter what? Because right now I am a student and I don't do that.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, if you choose the tax classes III/V or IV/IV with factor.
No, if you choose to remain in IV/IV (no factor) - and are willing to give the state money that you'd otherwise be entitled to. (Almost all tax declarations result in a refund!)

Thank you, that was quick!
