Rent or lease an apartment in or around Agrigento, Sicily

tonyteso

I am planning to move to the area in and around Agrigento in Sicily in April 2019. I plan on staying for 6 months with the possibility of retiring to this location. I am currently retired and have an excellent pension plus Social Security for income. I am looking for a fully furnished 2 bedroom flat in the historic center of Agrigento or within the Province of Agrigento. What is the best site to search? Other resources that might help?

Thank you

you can also look at

where there will be numerous apartments for rent, with photographs and description.   The rub is that rents typically are for 4 years, but quite a few will rent for 1 year.  6 months rental is far more difficult to find, and such short-term rentals can easily be 2-3 times more expensive. Sometimes it works out cheaper to pay for 12 months even if you need the apartment for briefer period.

The other obstacle is that people/agencies are reluctant to rent to foreigners because of the difficulty of verifying their income, and the stability of that income.    If you offer to pay the entire year in advance (if your finances enable you to do that)  that my be extremely helpful   (of course in this case you assume the non-zero risk that the apartment may become inhabitable because of earthquake).
