Hi there
we are from South Africa and plan on visiting Montenegro hopefully in September to invest in property so that we can retire there in a few years time. Can anyone recommend a reliable, trustworthy real estate agent and also a lawyer to guide us through the process?. Would be much appreciated.

Hi there and welcome to Montenegro!
Do you already know in which part of Montenegro you wish to retire? Generally real estate agents are quite "local" here, specialised in specific areas.
I am a property developer myself (also located in Tivat and Kotor only) and can recommend a few agents I have been working with for years when selling my properties, if you can specify the area.
When it comes to lawyers, I highly highly highly (!!) recommend using the services of Notaries instead of Lawyers. From my long experience, lawyers are mostly interested in making sure their invoice is as high as possible, and will go out their way to create issues which are not real issues (and very often overlook real issues), and jut making the whole process lengthy and not pleasant.
Notaries have the ability to do the exact same Due-Diligence as lawyers, and usually much better because it is their daily practice to do so, and their fees are regulated by law, so they have no incentive to make things more complicated than they really are.
Best of luck in the move !

Thank you ever so much for your replies, I will definitely be in touch as soon as we are able to come to Montenegro to look for property  purely as an investment at the moment intil we decide to come over and retire.  In the meantime,  we cannot sell here so for the moment our budget is very limited, but would be looking for a furnished apartment , not one where there is a body corporate, 1 bedroom and in a place that will attract tourists as well as long term rental people and preferably with a lovely sea view. Appreciate any advise? thanks so much

Hi,

Mostly real estates have translator and lawyer under the same roof. If you type nekretnine on search engine can reach to a lot options.

Hopefully that helps
