Alojamento local

frescura

Just wanted to know what the law says,

As I understand if you are a tourist in Portugal you have to registered within 3 days on the platform  available to Alojamento local / short stay owners.

This means if you have made a booking on booking.com, you would have to forward them your passport details.

But what if you are already resident in Portugal, say you live in Porto but you are visiting Lisbon and decide to stay at a AL for a nite. As I understand, you do not need to . I am just looking to reconfirm this.

thanks

According to what is written here, registration at SIBA platform is for everyone who doesn't have Portuguese nationality, regardless of whether they are a resident or a tourist.

Thank you for this. You bring up an interesting question. I understand this is Portugal forum. But the Portugese residence permit kets you travel in schnegen area. Now Spain requires you to have passports when you check -into a hotel/ motel or whatever as they have to report it to guarda civil. Anyone has had the experience of their portuguese residence card being accepted in place of their passport? ressons for not using passport are 1. May be you lost it and it is going to be a while before you get a replacement and want to travel to Spain in the mean time.  just curious?

You don't provide any details to the booking platform. You present passport or residence card in person at the establishment

The PT residence permit isn't a travel document - if you're travelling outside PT as a non EU national resident in PT, you should have both passport and residence document with you.

Only a passport is guaranteed to be acceptable id for a non-EU national. Residence cards on their own are not. It's possible that some establishments might accept one in lieu of a passport but it's not something to rely on.
