Accomadation in Edinburgh

Good day all.

I am looking at moving to Edinburgh next year. And need some advice on where would be a good place to set up in, weather it be house share, house mate or a place to myself. Could anyone give me some thorough advice, on what area is good not high end fancy just decent and what pricing is like?

The majority of people in Scotland live in a region that's known as the "Central Belt"; this will explain it in more detail.

Edinburgh is in the region and is almost certainly the most expensive part of Scotland to live; in general, the further away from Edinburgh, the cheaper everything is.

How good is the public transport system around The Edinburgh area? Will I need a car immediately? Or could I get around for a while with public transport?
