Canadian/Polish citizen retiring in Spain

smog1

I have Polish citizenship and live in Canada, also citizen there with a Canadian wife. What documents do I need to live in Spain for 6 months at a time. I understand that  I do not need extended visa but my wife does?

Easy peasy, no visa required.

EU citizens (Polish included) enjoy Freedom of Movement.

You should do the EU Citizen Registration (appointment booked online at the immigration office near your Spanish home).

Requirements are listed above, but I think you need your passport, proof of funds, proof of health insurance, and proof of address.

You get a little paper certificate to show you are legally resident, and you can stay as long (or as little) as you like.

Once you have your certificate, you do a separate step for your wife of Family Reunification.

Your wife, as a non-EU citizen will get an ID card/residence permit, or TIE.

I think this step needs the same documents as above, plus your Padron certificate (local town hall registration, based on your property deed or long term rental contract).

I've done this exact process, and it's very straightforward, no attorney needed. All info is online. I'd guess you can get it all done on your next visit to Spain, maybe takes a couple of weeks.
