Car from UAE on Gov. Visa

RiyadhMove

Good afternoon,

I am moving to Riyadh from UAE on a permanent basis, but I won’t have a residency visa, I will have a Saudi Government visa.

I  would love to bring my UAE car with me. It’s a 2013 but I don’t know if my visa category would allow me bring it? And I don’t think I can get Saudi plates/registration since I won’t be a resident.

any advice?

What is a government visa?   I think you are confusing the terminology.  I am pretty sure that they will convert whatever visa you have been given, to an Iqama (residency).   Because without Iqama, you cannot do a single thing e.g. bank accounts etc.   And besides, it is illegal to work without an Iqama.

This is not quite an accurate statement. So there are other very legal ways to work in KSA without Iqama. Please think about there are people who do not want to have a residence in KSA and they keep the residence of their native country and there is a way to work temporarily in KSA in a very legal way. Also an other case is with people that own companies/freelancers in their native countries and are contracted by KSA companies. Both are examples when you work legally in KSA without Iqama. Both cases need a special kind of visa. Maybe this is why it is named "government visa" above.

I think you missed my point.

Let me clarify:

1) To work in Saudi on a permanent basis, you NEED a work visa which leads to an Iqama. Also if you want to open a bank account and get paid in Saudi.  Or to import a car as the OP wants to do

2) To work temporarily in Saudi, you can get a "work visit" visa but for all intents and purposes, it is not a residence as you cannot open bank accounts nor do anything else that residents can do (including importing car). This is a temporary visa which can last after extension for a total of 6 months. A Government visa which is a single entry visit visa can be also be used for the same purpose.

Here is the link for it:

3) Working as a freelancer via your company in your home country doesn't lead to any type of visa in Saudi. You can stay in your home country and work from there. If you come here on a visit visa and work as a freelancer here in Saudi then be aware that it is illegal under labor law. You can be given a work visit visa under point 2 as above if you want to make it legal

Outside of point number 2, there are NO legal ways to work in Saudi without an Iqama. I invite you read the Saudi labor laws as well as the guidelines from MOHRE / Jawazat.

Therefore, if the OP wants to bring his car, he MUST have an Iqama to import and register it in Saudi.
