Your neighbours in Saudi Arabia

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

When you move in Saudi Arabia, relationships with your neighbours can play a vital role in your well-being and integration. Share your experiences of the interactions and routines that punctuate your daily life in Saudi Arabia:

Tell us about your relationships with your neighbours in Saudi Arabia. Do you have any anecdotes to share, moments of solidarity or community initiatives that have touched you?

Are there any specific customs or cultural norms to be respected between neighbours? For example, is it normal to introduce yourself to your neighbours and invite them over when you move in Saudi Arabia?

Do you have any tips or advice for fostering good neighbourly relations in Saudi Arabia? How do you deal with the differences and diversities that can exist within the community?

Are there any initiatives to organise activities between neighbours, whether official events or spontaneous gatherings?

Are your neighbours °µÍø½ûÇøs or locals? How does this influence your experience in Saudi Arabia?

By sharing your experiences, you enrich everyone's understanding of life in Saudi Arabia and help many people to plan their life abroad.

Thank you all for your contributions.

Well normally the families keep to themselves in the buildings. The neighbors could be your own nationality or other °µÍø½ûÇøs or the locals but generally given the fact the male members are engaged in their official duties throughout the day, the evenings are spent towards their own family commitments.  It’s always good to be polite and respectful to the neighbors but not much interaction is possible due to different culture,  engagements and timings. The °µÍø½ûÇøs though move and mix within their own community preferably and whenever time permits after family commitments. The main outing is for shopping, eating-out and now cinema watching. And all of this in whatever time is available in the evenings because the days are usually pretty hot in Saudi Arabia.
