Returned from Jeddah at 8 pm and had the gals order a gala dinner for the whole family which took the Mrs by surprise.

Well actually, if we all agreed to attend some embassy function we could make it our 'meetup,' too.

The Saudi-Sri Lanka Frienship Society is planning a Sri Lankan Food Festival at the Al Khozama Hotelk sometime soon. Will keep youi guys posted. I can assure the food will be spicy and hot but the tradition of Ceylon tea will be sizzling kool.

And ray, not always.  For example, the French embassy is always doing something or another but they charge top buck to attend so trust me, there's always plenty of room

Actually we were almots launching the Food Festival when the Ambassador passed awayt in Yemen during an official visit there to attend a conference. The new man has just taken up office and arrived in Riyadh and we need to buck him up a bit inb order to take the cue and carry on the good work.
