Import tax on electrical goods

gosta73

Hi, I'm moving to Ankara for work in January and will be bringing a laptop, smartphone and kindle. Will I have to pay import tax on these at the airport? They're all used items for my personal use.

Many thanks

Hi Gosta73

I brought in all three of above mentioned devices in my personal use to Turkey plus my cameras, lenses and a DVD writer.  I did not have to pay any duty for items in personal use.

Hope this helps.

Plus I would advise you to bring in as much electronics as you can with you. The prices in Turkey on electronics are really absurd.

Hi Mr. Xeeschan,
We had to pay 780 TL for the computer and a Kenwood Chef but  it was three years ago.

Hi guys

I am international freight forwarder, your situation is very familiar to me :)

There won't be any extra paying or taxes as long as you have one of each products, the mentality here in customs is that goods should be for personal use, not for commercial use..
