Retirement visa

coscia16

Hello,

My wife (Colombian citizen) and I are planning to retire in a couple years to Cartago, Valle.  We own a house there.

I'm curious as to what type of visa, or paperwork, I'll need to permanently reside in Colombia.  I've heard from a few sites about an M-11 visa.  Can anyone elaborate on that subject?

Appreciate it.

I have no personal experience of the M-11 visa but these links may help.  First you get the M visa then after 5 years you can apply for a resident visa.

@coscia16

Better for your wife to establish residency, than you get a marraige visa as she is a citizen.

That is the surest long term visa option for you with the least documentation and requirements .

I have a friend who is in the exact situation as you, both him and his Colombian wife living in US married for 20 years..and this is what he did. a "slam dunk".
