Your Favourite Place in Thailand.

thetefldon

Given that many people use this forum to get background information on different areas of Thailand I thought it might be an idea to start a thread where members who live here(or have visited) shared their favourite places.

Trust me there are hundreds of places in Thailand outside of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Phuket that are worth a visit or even worth settling down in.

So to show willing I will kick off with:

Khao Kho Highlands in Phetchabun Province. For those that don't know, Phetchabun is in Upper Central Thailand.

The Khao Kho Highlands area mountainous area West of Mueang(City) Phetchabun. The area is about 4000' above sea level and quite cool all the year round and on average about 10c lower than temperatures on the Central Plain.

The scenery is stunning and the area includes a couple of National parks. Plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and nature watching(there are wild elephants there).

The area is only really busy during Songkran(Thai New Year) and the Western Christmas and New Year. Plenty of cheap but decent accomodation available.

You would need your own transport to visit since save for the occasional songthaew there is little in the way of public transport.

Thanks for the great insight. I get your point now on what you might see as an improvementÌý of the forum. I must agree, great addition. I've placed this in my notes of places to explore. Bravo!

I was born and raised on a small farm in Idaho, USA.Ìý But, to earn any real money, one needs to move to larger, more populated areas.Ìý I have been to Germany, Korea, through many states in the USA, and lately Singapore (where my wife is from), and visited Chiang Mai in February of this year.

My wife and I were in the central portion of CM, with gobs of traffic and people all over.Ìý My favorite place?Ìý Get me back on that small farm I grew up on -- except have that farm be in Thailand would be my dream.. :)Ìý

Thanks for asking.Ìý Dave

I like our jungle house in Surat, surrounded by tall rubber trees. Completely secluded and peaceful.

Never done that

Back on a trip in 2012 i spend some time in Cha Am and later Bang-Saen..
I really love this 2 city...

I going back to Cha Am for song kran and to see my family that come on holiday, and spend 4 days together....

And later this year i go see Bang-Saen again, i miss the sea every day, so i might move there in the future..
