Your best culinary memory in Bulgaria

Mickael

Hello everyone,

As you know, every country has its own flavours and tasting the local cuisine is a great way to discover the culture of a destination. Whether it's a small typical restaurant to taste local dishes, a traditional meal in a local's home, street food or fast food, there is something for everyone!

So, which dish do you want to try in Bulgaria?
Which dish has impressed you the most and when did you discover it?
Do you know how to cook it and share it with your family?

Thank you for your taste contribution ;)

I was blessed to be invited to lunch at my neighbour's home for the last Independence Day. The meal started with shopska salad and rakia. A wonderful combination! Then a bean soup with chicken, eaten with bread enriched with eggs and sirene. And then apple cake. Of course, I was pushed to have second helpings of everything.

All home made, and all amazing! My best meal in Bulgaria so far!

Second best was a slice of spinach and sirene pizza, eaten outdoors in Varna. The girl selling the pizza apologised that it was 2 lev a slice. No need to apologise, as the slices were huge. No other topping, just spinach and sirene. So simple and so delicious.

I absolutely love cornflake chicken, Shopska salad and perlenka. I love the cuisine there. Tomatoes are the best tasting in the world!
