There are suppliers all over the country - beware of "installers" who have no idea (or don't give a sh*t) about the regulations of what is permitted, or where. Doing a bad job endangers your, and other people's health, as well as the general environment, and can entail a hefty fine - and "ignorance of the law" carries no weight anywhere these days. Existing/new cess-pits are illegal these days.

Just Google "迮郈邽郇訄 邾訄" with your location after it - or enter it on OLX/Alo/Bazar(dot)bg, or prefixed with "near me " in Google Maps, and you should be good to go.

Joseph, how is your move going? I hope it's all good so far!

josephsaad44

well, for the moment I have no plans moving for good, but yes I would love too as soon as I get the chance.

meanwhile I am trying to get some quotations for the horse barn and the house which I may have to demolished.

horse barn still in a good and solid condition.

it's hard to get a contractors while I am away.

I am planning to come very soon and look for someone decent.

many thanks for your advise and concerns.

Don't even think about getting someone to work on your property if you're not there to supervise! Even the best of Bulgarian workers have their own ideas about what "should" be done, and how; once whatever they've bodged up is hidden underneath concrete, plaster or insulation you won't know until it's much too late to do anything about it. There are far too many masters here whose sole qualification is having spent an afternoon watching Grandad demonstrating his own ineptitude a few decades ago - and that's not counting the foreigners who get on an aircraft as bus-drivers and disembark as Master Builders.

After my years here, I can introduce you to a whole raft of self-confident incompetents who really do believe that they know what they're doing, despite the evidence to the contrary in every project they've ever touched..

josephsaad44

@JimJ

you are very much right, and I have learned through out my mistakes.

I totally agree with you.

they have so much excuses and trying to get someone whom determines to finish what they start it's hard.

once I know and decide to come I will make sure to contact you, so you can advice me and connect me to someone reliable.

many thanks to you.

Good tradesmen are rare in whatever country you live. When hubby was an artisan electrician in France many of his jobs were sorting out messes that other ones had made. Fortunately he knows how to do almost all trades so we wont need any.

Yes I've learnt that while I've been living here Jean. I live in a village in the Burgas municipality but find someone to work on my house is very difficult.

josephsaad44

when it comes to a foreigner , all of the sudden everyone becomes a contractor. they all squeeze and take an advantages of you cause you do not speak the language.

it seems like a pattern they use on and on and again.

if you need a help from a local he takes you to a lawyer you sign a contract you pay the amount then afterwards he goes back and takes his share.

hhhh you get a help from a guy in the guest house to help you with papers in the municipality he keeps you in order to pay rent and tell the papers are not ready yet.

then they try to show you how nice they are and tell you to use their abondend car and get rid of the rental car.

you take their car to the shop to get it fixed and all of the sudden the garage ask for 1000 leva and afterwards the owner of the guest house says something to him and 2 days after they tell you it's 2000lev so I end up paying more.

hhhh sneaky ugly disgusting way to cheat.

they think that others can't feel and see so much I went through during my 2 months stay.

@josephsaad44

Even if you are a local and especially a woman they can try it on with you, you just need to be firm. It can take time but after a number of years you will find reliable people to do work for you.

We are lucky that our town has a Facebook group(s) and can ask for recommendations. But after 16 years here we are pretty much sorted.

josephsaad44

well it does take time certainly.

you have been there for so long to know their behavior.

2 months being there was enough to me to understand their behavior.

Definitely I need to stay there physically in order to get things done.

I do appreciate your message.

best regards.

We were offered the use of their car by a neighbour, we turned them down nicely because I had the feeling that we'd have been expected to not only fill it with fuel but maybe pay for other issues with it and we cannot afford it. Plus the seat belts don't work and the seats move around in it.

Its only fair to put back the petrol you used. But the seat belts not working, 1) safety issue, 2) it would be you that got in trouble with the police if caught, because you were in charge of the vehicle at the time.

@Kath948381

the owner of the guest house had not been using the car for years and when I fixed it used it I had to leave it for them fixed and good to go hhhhhh
