Looking for help with receiving mail in Budapest 🇭🇺📬

rkkhannanova

Hi everyone!

I’m currently not in Hungary, and I’m expecting a few important letters (official correspondence) to be delivered in the coming weeks.

I’m looking for someone in Budapest who would be open to receiving these letters at their own address. Ideally, you could either:

– hold onto them until I come to pick them up personally,

or

– forward them to Spain (I’ll cover all costs and offer a fee for your time).

There will only be a small number of standard letters (no packages involved).

Happy to discuss compensation for the help.

If you’re open to this or know someone trustworthy, I’d really appreciate it — please DM me ðŸ™

Welcome,

I'm not sure anyone here will give you their personal address. I know I wouldn't to a complete stranger. But I do query why the letters are being sent to (Budapest,) Hungary, only for them to be sent to Spain?

Why can't you just have them sent to Spain in the first place?

This sounds very fishy to me.

Why not ask one of the neighbors in your building to hold onto them or forward them to you?

Hi! Thanks for the honest feedback — I really get where you’re coming from.

To clarify: I used to live in Hungary and still have several banking services tied to my Hungarian residency and documents. Unfortunately, they can’t send new cards abroad — they’re only allowed to deliver within Hungary to the registered address.

I’ve recently moved to Spain and won’t be back in Budapest in time to collect them myself — that’s why I was hoping to find someone locally who could simply receive a few letters and either hold onto them or forward them.

Totally understand it’s a personal ask and not everyone would be up for it — I just thought I’d try, in case someone here had experience with mail forwarding or offers something similar.

Appreciate your message and wish you a great day! 🙌

Ahh now that makes sense.

Maybe you could have them sent to a Mailbox in Budapest?

That’s a great suggestion — and I’ve actually started looking into that too!

I’m checking a few virtual mailbox or mail-forwarding services in Budapest, but there’s a bit of a catch: some banks don’t allow delivery to commercial mailboxes (especially if they’re used by multiple people), since it might not pass their address verification or compliance checks.

That’s why I thought I’d first check with the community — in case someone has experience with this, or occasionally helps with receiving mail for °µÍø½ûÇøs.

But yes, if I don’t find a personal solution, a paid mailbox service might still be the fallback option. Thanks again for the suggestion — much appreciated!
